A song immediately came into my head....I didn't know all the words but have just found them..it tells of our brief time on this earth and what will become of us....if you ever saw the film 'Cold Mountain' you would have heard this sung in the 'Battle of Gettysburg' scene.
And am I born to die? To lay this body down!
And must my trembling spirit fly Into a world unknown?
A land of deepest shade, Unpierced by human thought
The dreary regions of the dead, Where all things are forgot.
Soon as from earth I go What will become of me?
Eternal happiness or woe, Must then my portion be!
Waked by the trumpet sound, I from my grave shall rise;
And see the Judge with glory crowned,
And see the flaming skies!

This is so mesmerizing. Cold Mountain is one of my favorite movies...we even have the soundtrack...my favorite being the last 3 instrumental songs. I think my favorite scene in that movie is when Ada opens the window and puts her hand out into the falling snow...it is just so beautiful to me. Oh, you've made me want to watch it now! These skies are amazing!!!
Hi Fairmaiden...I love Cold Mountain too!!..and I too have the soundtrack!!I love that Sacred harp singing..it just seems to lift you to another plain with the power of the human voice in unison..somehow it just stirs some strong emotion in me. xx
