Bonny Heather

Beautiful patches of bright heather are out on the common now......every so often..interspersed
between the gorse bushes....thriving on very little...
it always reminds me of my trip to Scotland when i had just finished college.....many years ago but the memory is as sharp as ever.....
i had got the sleeper coach from London to Edinburgh..from there in the early morning train across to the Kyle of Lochalsh..i had a summer job at a hotel on the Isle of Skye....
that train journey was breathtaking.....hills, mountains and glens....green and purples covering the lands.....travelling close to the waters edge...seeing the wildlife..birds and deer...i swear my heart was in mouth the whole way with the stunning beauty of it.....
That journey is still heralded as one of the most scenic in the world...

Somewhat gentler scenery here today.....don't you just love calves.....we have watched these charmers growing all summer....they don't bat a long lashed eyelid even when you get up close...

..the sky was just wonderful today...
