Unbelievable

After returning today to our old home to pick up a few things that my removal men couldn't fit in....no I do not have lots..it was a small van!!!!!
....in a howling gale and horizontal rain showers....


We took a brief walk by the lake and I couldn't believe my eyes ...amongst the ducks and swans.....

flying madly.....
swooping and swirling.....
diving and skimming.....
the waters surface where hundreds of swifts....or are they swallows...can you believe that.....

summer must be on the way.....

Moving On....

When I came to this wonderful place I thought I was here for the long haul...
but life happens and things change....

..tomorrow we move....




...for the moment we have walked our last walk around the lake.....



...seen the last beautiful sunset...the wiltshire skies are amazing...




... The Lodger has been and said his goodbyes to 'his girls'....




...and I have said mine....to those who don't like publicity!!!!




...and those who are in disguise and don't care!!!! (Halloween 2009!!)



...felt happy that I'd done a good job....but sad that this has finished....



....still trying to see the beauty in everything.....I move on to help someone who for all of her life has given me uncondtional love and support and who now needs some back....

Cecil Beaton

There is a beautiful shop near where I live which is called Beaudesert.....it always has the most lovely window displays.....whimsical and thoughtful....





I know how difficult it is to continually come up with new ideas to dress the window with...when we had a shop Miss Magpie and I where always racking our brains for new ideas and they would often come for the strangest places....I am proud to say our windows used to win prizes....well it was a small town!!!....



Beaudesert use the design archive which includes some from Cecil Beaton to make wonderful fabrics....I loved their vintage tea window with cupcakes...birdcage cake and birds and pretty vintage china ..teamed up with their colourful fabrics it is definitely a bright spot on the rather grey high street....

All of a flutter!!

If you have been visiting me for a while you will know what a rubbish wildlife photograph I take!!!!.......

After a long Sunday at work I could only manage a short walk with the little black chap so we headed off to the lake.....

Lovely a veritable mothers meeting of swans....I love swans.....




...as I walked by I was just thinking wouldn't it be fab-u-lous if they all decided to fly away at that moment...some hope!!...

Oh and wouldn't it have been great if I'd remembered to take my camera with me as I walked out the door.....hopeless!!!.....



..so with my mobile phone...the sun in my eyes so I didn't even know if I was even close to the flapping of mighty wings ( I really need to get my eyes tested...)..I snapped as quickly as you can snap with a mobile phone....




....this I am afraid is as good as it gets!!!....can you see the little white specks in the distance...or shall I pass the binoculars!!!!

The Long Climb

Yesterday was dull and overcast....just right for a very long walk....through the woods on an old bridle path and then we began to climb...up and up....




..very soon I realised I'd overdressed for the occasion!!!....scarf and coat soon tied round waist and sleeves pushed up.....



..try as I might The Lodger wouldn't pull me up!!....my old bull terrier was very handy that way and could be relied on to drag you if you were flagging....
...miss you boy...



..the vista opens up as we reach the top.....arable fields waiting for warmth to spring into colour...



after the steady climb the view was worth it...looking down to the lake...a gentle breeze making the last remaining leaves that still hang on the beech trees sing...



..as we reached the level path along the ridge....the clouds parted and a blast of sunshine bathed us.....sometimes you need to stand back to see the bigger picture...now I can move on knowing I am doing the right thing....

New Beginnings

Soon I will be following a new path.....however hard I try to be settled.....it doesn't work.....




I'll tell you all about it later.....life is all held together with brown paper and string at the moment......



...if you read this mish mash of ramblings often you will recognise this place....soon it will be a daily walk for the lodger and me.....



...a utterly beautiful early spring morning....six thirty a.m.......sun rise....my favourite moment of the day.............just me ....a dog......and a handful of slow moving bovine ladies!!!!....they are so blase..maybe I could walk right up to them and scratch those furry ears!!.....maybe not....


..the reflection in the pool of water is a vapour trail from a plane above on its way to Heathrow...cool eh!!!

Beautiful Day

The air is alive with birds song and the sun is hazily rising in the sky blue sky...
There is promise...a warmth that I haven't felt for months....I should be packing up a picnic...putting on the walking boots and striding out over the hills....





......but work beckons.....

Home of Decay

This old tree trunk we passed today must have stood here for centuries.....
...it is broken and dead....
..dried out and decaying...



...a pin cushion to the woodpeckers beak.....there are many holes....



..alive with creatures..gradually eating this skeleton away....



..a home for spiders ants....lichens and moss.....



..still standing though diminishing daily....

Nest

Walking around the garden I found a tiny nest blown out of a tangle of climbing briar's.....woven with dried grass and feathers....cast onto the frozen frosty soil...



..I couldn't resist rescuing it and since the bantams are laying helter skelter at the moment....placed on of their 'mini' eggs in it!!!.....hiding among the emerging tulips......



..the feathers are another thing I can't resist picking up on my walks......I have lots!!!

Beach Hut Heaven

When we visited the seaside as kids I always looked at the people with beach huts with a certain amount of envy.....they had a place to change out of wet costumes without trying to keep covered up with a towel.....a primus stove to have a brew of tea....a shelter in case the rain came on.....I just loved that 'miniature house' a few steps away from the sand....



...on Hove promenade the beach huts are newly painted in readiness for the coming season.....



...all except a few.....i know you may think they are letting the side down....


..but I love the weather beaten paintwork....the layers of colours.....



..it just seems to have so much more character than its shiny neighbours...



...ahhhh...number 93....the one for me!!!!

Seaside snaps

When in brighton...the obligitory walk along the prom.......early morning and its busy with walkers....joggers.....serious training going on here!!....the lodger and I saunter along....so many new sniffs for him......fresh seaside horizon for me....









...we turn for home.....tea and toast waiting.....
