memento mori

*
remember
the splashed water
leaving trapped rainbows
cascading
in
water droplets
over iridescent feathers.
Once I was beautiful.

  3. Thank you. All it took was you writing remember...

    Duck Memories

    Remember grooming
in the morning on the lake,
    the time all that took,
    and the digging for
    the fine grubs we ate.
    Remember grooming at noon,
    again at sunset
    and huddling in dark
    moonless cloudy nights colder
    than we liked in fall.
