dance of life

Venus and The Sailor, 1925, by Salvador Dali

bring back the old days where we danced across the sands and threw off our shoes and felt the heat burn our souls

dusted and gritty sweat filled hours of toss and turn while above us the gulls swooped and screeched

cover me in coarse navy wool as night creeps up and the sun once burning our pasty skin flares up a flash of crimson

in its setting we talk of future journeys and as the first stars appear you tell me of hopes and dreams and i shiver with the possibility of it all

as we stand today looking at the horizon of our life we gently sway with the memories
hot sand between our toes.
