beyond the grey

not to be reproduced 1937 Magritte

raven black
iridescent feathers
back to back
wings clipped
straight
to the side
unseen eyes
focus
on the far horizon
where the lark ascends
singing to the sun
as a gentle breeze
lifts spirits
soaring into cobalt blue
singed with ozone
look why don't you
and see beyond the grey walls
of winter.

Kay Davies 2013

What an extraordinary image...go to The Mag to see the other poets work.

Walking today in the very cold and snow scattered landscape.... high above me the skylarks where singing fluttering higher and higher until i lost sight of them in the clouds....i love them....they fill my heart with their song and their apparent  joy...which seems boundless.
