faun horse and bird by Picasso 1936
Balanced on the rocky outcrop
we dared each other
to dive
into unknown waters
pirouetting and twirling
for the best advantage
we pushed and pulled
dissolving into fits
and shakes of giggles
anxious mothers watching from the tower
gasped as we fell together
into the choppy sea.

ReplyDeleteOh, how I remember my teen age years, as I read this poem ... our poor, anxious mothers trying to cast nets to catch us as we dove willy-nilly into any and all choppy seas! Great write!
