Spring

Young Woman Picking the Fruit of Knowledge, 1892 by Mary Cassatt

i know you watch me
as i reach high
to shake apple branches
showering blossoms
into a spin and whirl
on warm breezes
they catch in my hair
tiny petals
brush eyelashes and cheeks
blushing in the sun
my winter skin shocked
i stretch
opening my heart to the new season
longed for through the dark days
now banished
to the beauty of spring.

thank goodness the sun is shining this bank holiday weekend. pop over here to see the other poets work.
