Young Woman Picking the Fruit of Knowledge, 1892 by Mary Cassatt
i know you watch me
as i reach high
to shake apple branches
showering blossoms
into a spin and whirl
on warm breezes
they catch in my hair
tiny petals
brush eyelashes and cheeks
blushing in the sun
my winter skin shocked
i stretch
opening my heart to the new season
longed for through the dark days
now banished
to the beauty of spring.
