Mask
le jardin by max ernst
river flowing
through
thoughts
that mean nothing
to you
you claim to know me
but you don't
i hide myself from you
its a game i play
to see how wrong you can get it
my face is a mask
which one day i will let crack
then you will recoil from the truth
laid bare.
The picture prompt is from Tess at The Mag, go and read the other poets work.
This is rather sad as everyone
ReplyDeletehas a mask at some point of
time. This would be good to
link up with Real Toads as
they have a mask prompt.
I like your take on the prompt. The woman hiding her face. I hadn't seen the picture like this before.
ReplyDeleteVeiled threat, eh? :)
ReplyDeleteIf only all of us would take down our masks...
ReplyDeleteGood one!
ReplyDeleteerosion
"Recoil from the truth laid bare"....real insight...
ReplyDeleteKnowing and rather wise; well done.
ReplyDeleteYour take on this was different and I like it!
