Soft Luck
I see you in my dreams
disappearing around corners
or pressed disdainfully
under fallen leaves
that hump and fall to your silhouette
darkness smells of mushrooms and scurrying mice
the heavy sky the blackest blue
like day old bruises
and silent
deep
water
my toes curl into dirt
scarlet nails grim at the edges
i shift fore and back
a dance of indecision
a rabbit foot necklace between my breasts
grey and soft with luck.
