Reading by Moonlight
image; monhegans schoolteacher 2004 by jamie Wyeth
dappled moonlight shines
on fluttering words
turned translucent
with drips and steam
stars on the horizon
blink knowingly
onto lavender snow
the outsider looking in
the insider looking out
we are shadows
on the pages
deep inside
we see the truth
of ourselves.

resurrected souls
we are the resurrected
so high we are heavenly
with clouds below
and stars
so bright we shield our eyes
feathers of swifts and larks
flutter against our cheeks
pecking at our hair
delighting in our waywardness
rainbows arch below
helter skelter
we slide as fragile prisms
fly-by-night raiders
of lesser souls.

Today I saw my first swallow of the year..flying over the garden as I dug into the earth planting herbs...it was magical...
the picture although by Kazma Petrov- Vodin reminded me of the fabulous Stanley Spencer, hence the reference to The Resurrection....xx

Woman with a towel- Degas
Powder Blue
wrap me tight
in your arms
pull me close
so i can see the water
drip from your eyelids
robed in powder blue
and lilac
desire perfumes the air
mirror mists reflect
our messed up lives
don't wipe the surface yet
lets stay out of focus
for this moment.
