scum rose to the surface
i skimmed carefully
wanting to retain the very essence
musky perfume filled the room
as steam condensed on opaque windows
hung with heavy linen
and blackened chimney stones
iridescent with oils
held my secrets
carefully set another batch
screwed tight
and labeled.
Such gorgeous wordplay. Really nice.

ReplyDeleteThis is quite dark and sinister. It reminds me of the book "Perfume' by Patrick Susskind, but there's lots of hidden meaning here too. Very enjoyable.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and enigmatic...brings to mind the movie "Perfume"...
